La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated was established on February 19, 1982 in order to address the shortcomings of academic institutions in meeting and addressing the needs of Latino students in higher education.

It is evident that students will be the future leaders of America. Therefore it is essential that in an institution of higher learning we have organizations which are committed to developing its members and peers into mature, intelligent, socially active, and culturally conscious individuals, who, via mutual support, can excel academically and professionally. This is why we founded a chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. in Rochester.

We feel that only a brotherhood as strong as the one we have found in Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc., is capable of focusing the strength of many on a common objective. There are few organizations that can move with the efficiency, and effectiveness, that La Unidad Latina can, in order to effect change at both the local and national levels.

Specifically we, the Omega Chapter, will effect change in numerous ways. We will heighten self-awareness, protect and educate our youth, provide academic support, create unity on our campus, as well as among all the local Latino organizations. We will take leadership roles in business, government, and anywhere we can make a difference. We know this will take a long time, which is another reason why we desired the life long commitment that this organization provides. In the words of one of our founders: "Para Siempre is for real!"

It is only a brotherhood as strong as this one that can make a difference. It is also our goal, and our mission to find some of the best men, and make them a part of our brotherhood, so that in turn we may all grow stronger together.
